New "Super Wars" Season Written

A short announcement. Today I wrote a season of "Super Wars". Without giving too much away, it's not a typical season of the show, as it's a prequel of-sorts. I particularly like it a lot and I'm hoping my fellow "staffers" enjoy it as well. It's gonna run for 6 episodes, tying for the third-shortest season in the show.

Thank you.

skull902 Reviews: The Amazing Spider-Man

Okay, so today I saw "The Amazing Spider-Man" with one of my friends and I'm here to share my thoughts. If you don't like spoilers, then you need to go away. Right now. Seriously, go away. You shouldn't read any further if you don't want spoilers. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Anyway, the movie begins with the four- eh, eight, uh...four year-old played by an eight year-old Peter Parker playing hide-and-seek with his parents. Aw. But when he goes in his fathers' office, he finds the place ransacked and calls him in. His dad (Richard) and mom (Mary) make plans to have Peter stay with his Uncle Ben and Aunt May.

Cut to...somewhere between ten and twelve years later and Peter's in high school now. He gets bullied by a guy named Flash Thompson. Peter walks around and takes pictures until he sees Flash forcing another kid to...eat his vegetables? Um...okay, whatever. But Peter stops this ...healthy eating torture and gets beat up himself. At home he helps Uncle Ben clean the basement out after a flood and finds a case his father owned. He sees a picture in it of Richard with Dr. Curt Connors. Peter researches Connors and it turns out he's looking for interns for his job at Oscorp.

Peter steals an ID card to get in and sees his schoolmate Gwen Stacy (whom is the love interest) giving the tour. The guy who's ID card Peter stole can be seen getting tossed out. But they all meet the one-and-a-half-armed Dr. Connors and have a nice time...except for Peter, who decides to sneak around. Eventually his fooling around gets himself bitten by a spider and it gives him powers. Spider powers. He rips a girls shirt off by accident and then also accidentally kicks some ass afterward. Eventually he is taken in as an assistant or something by Dr. Connors.

After more shenanigans Peter and Uncle Ben have a fight. Peter runs and Ben looks for him, leading to his untimely death. Peter then dedicates himself to using his spider powers for good and to hunt Uncle Ben's murderer down. And he does so, with no results. But he starts to fight other criminals and gets the attention of many people, including Police Captain George Stacy, Gwen's father.

Peter is invited to Gwen's for dinner, and he and George get into a fight about whether Spider-Man is helping people or is just an asshole. As Peter leaves, he and Gwen kiss and he tells her he is Spider-Man. Meanwhile, Dr. Connors, who has been looking for a cure to his somewhat missing limb, finds a cure...a temporary one that turns him into a crappy CGI lizard man. He runs loose for a few and is stopped by Spider-Man, who saves a child from a dangling car afterward.

Eventually Peter learns the Daily Bugle is taking in photos of the Lizard, so he sets up a little photo-op in the Lizard's lair (the sewers) which I'm sure Lizard won't mind at all. They get in a fight after a while, and it leads to Lizard finding out Spider-Man is Peter Parker...with a "Property Of" sticker on the back of his camera which was left behind. ...Whatever.

Lizard then goes to the high school Peter attends and fights him there. It leads to a big scuffle out in the street where they're both being hunted for by the police and Gwen working on an antidote for Lizard. Spider-Man is eventually caught by the cops, lead by Stacy but makes quick work of them as his identity is revealed to the Captain. He lets Peter go but a cop shoots him just before George gives the order to hold fire.

The father of the child saved earlier calls up some crane operators through a friend of his and the crane operators set a clear path for Spidey to get to Oscorp. Meanwhile, Gwen successfully made the cure, but not without some trouble by Lizard who is setting something up to infect the entire city with the same thing he has (with a machine that was featured earlier in the movie). Gwen is driven off by the police but not before George takes the cure capsule and heads for Lizard, Spidey following along. They both confront him, Spider-Man freezing him up with some liquid nitrogen. Stacy shoots Lizard's frozen body but Lizard's regenerative abilities keep him intact and he fatally attacks the Captain.

Spider-Man replaces the capsule with the virus around with the capsule for the cure and all of Lizard's victims, as well as himself, are saved. Dr. Connors points out to Peter (after saving him) that the Captain is probably dieing and Peter runs to him, promising that he won't let Gwen get involved. George has a funeral but Peter doesn't show up and Gwen talks with him about it, Peter revealing his promise. However, a few days later I'm assuming, he whispers to her that he can't keep the promise. Gwen smiles a bit as the movie ends.

I know I didn't explain it too well or anything but you really need to see this one if you haven't. I mean...the action, the storytelling, a lot of the elements, everything just seemed to be in line. Definitely fitting for the first review of mine on this blog.

SCORE:
8/10.
